Camp moment

Camp moment
“I can do this” I said then I pedalled down the little hill slowly and carefully so I did not fall. An adult supporting me as I pedal along the soggy wet grass. Getting more and more confident and more and more proud of myself.
Then ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ouch! Ooff! I fell off. Massaging my aches as I get off the wet grass then limping over to the shadiest part of the forest to take a break.

Five minutes later I hear the wheels spinning round and round and it makes me want to achieve my goal. So I get back on the bike and try my hardest to ride it faster and for longer.

Log cabin

Log cabin

There I was standing on the straight biscuit brown path that lead to a dark gloomy forest. The path was covered in little stones and little leaves. As I was walking I felt brave. In the forest I could see twisted trees, heavy rocks and prickly trees. In the distance I could see a crack of sunshine. Each step I took I could hear the crunching Sounds of the leaves.

As I walked further in the forest I Saw a dirty, rusty and old log cabin. Around the log cabin all I could see was tall and short curved trees. The cabin looked unsafe and abandoned. I made my way to the front door and opened it…

Fact or a fib

One statement is a fib and two is a fact, guess what ones are a fib and a fact.

- In the holidays I went on an 8 hour flight to Hawaii.
- In the holidays  went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.
- In the holidays I vomited in the middle of the night.

Athletics Day Shot put

Shot put
We had just finished our short morning tea break. Our next activity was shot put. I was exhausted after 100 metre sprints, even though it was a short sprint. When we went to the field for shot put we rushed to line up. It took a long time until it was finally my turn. I stepped up to the white line, held the ball, got into position, took a deep breath and waited for Mrs Seth to say ready, go. “ Go “ said Mrs Seth. Then I pushed the 2 kg ball with all my might. It landed with a thud that kind of made a hole in the ground. Then Mrs Seth said" oops you step on the white line". I was quite disappointed and also I didn't throw the orange ball that far. But that was all right. Better luck next year, I hope.

How the fantail got it's fan

Once a long time ago, In new zealand in a dark windy dull forest, there was a lonely brown cold sparrow hopping around the trees. It fell down on a bumpy path. Suddenly a tall skinny human came along and saw the sparrow lying down on a rough pathway.  The human put his hands together to make a cup shape and scooped up the poor little sparrow up into his hands. Then the friendly human put the sparrow in a comfortable place.

Then one day a low voice spoke to the sparrow. The sparrow  thought. It’s the god of the bird he was wondering what he wanted to say to the sparrow. The god said your tail is too short grow it longer. Then the god disappeared. The sparrow thought why he needed to grow it’s tail longer but he knew that he had to do what the god of the bird said.

He went to his family and said” how do I grow a tail “.  The Mummy sparrow said “well what happened “ the sparrow said “ the god said that I have to grow my tail back. The god will be quite angry with me. ”The Mummy sparrow says “ I might have some medicine for growing tails back.“YAY” said the sparrow.

The next day the sparrow woke up , his tail was a fan. He ran down from his nest to go show off his new tail but as he was flying down the god of the bird came he said “good job little sparrow I think your tail looks so good that I will give all sparrows tails like yours. Before I go you can rename sparrows to what you want so goodbye and I will see you soon”. The god disappeared so the sparrow thought and thought what should I rename sparrows as he touched the ground of his living room he said It out loud “I GOT IT, FANTAILS” “what” said his family look at my tail” “ look at our tails” and so sparrows got renamed to fantails and they lived happily ever after.

ANZAC DAY

As I sit and think about ANZAC DAY . . .

I think about how the soldiers fought in the war. I imagine them standing nervously waiting for the battle to begin. Running ,standing and crouching on the soft brown mud. They fight by shooting from their heavy guns. They smell the disgusting air of the huge bombs dropping from the big blue sky.

The red beautiful poppies covered with soldiers blood around the huge field. We will remember the soldiers!
